Derek Stanton
Derek Stanton hails from Oswaldtwistle. He wrote the famous “Battle of Sabden Treacle Mines” which won the Sidmouth Folk Festival Award in 1978, and sang with the Blue Water Folk for twenty years. He created the Lancashire Drift programme for BBC Radio Lancashire and is a former Lancashire Dialect Committee Member. He has broadcast many times on TV and radio, and has produced two LPs and three cassettes, the latest of which is “Gradely Lancashire”. As well as compering at various venues, his interest in Lancashire dialect will be given free rein over the weekend, with the Lancashire Dialect Verse Writing Competition. |
