Jenny Coxon Inspired by the playing of Billy Cooper on the “English Country Music” LP, Jenny bought her first hammered dulcimer in 1981. Self-taught on accordion, she played in Lincolnshire ceilidh band Higgledy Piggledy and for Kesteven Women's Morris. Born and bred in Cheshire, she returned to the northwest in 1982, becoming very involved in the traditional music of the region. She was solo musician on hammer dulcimer for Saddleworth Clog and Garland Dancers for 10 years, and played northwest music on that instrument in the Rising Sun Band (Band of the Rising Sun) for 12 years. More recently she has played hammer dulcimer in an occasional duo with Northumberland piper Adrian Schofield. A chance meeting with Janette Hughes in 1992 led to the formation of the Nonsuch Dulcimer Club. After 12 years as Chairman, Jenny has stepped down for a well-earned rest. |
