Joe Crane
Irish piper, fiddler, and teacher, his latest project was to supply the music for an album of stories about the seal-folk of Donegal by Sharon Jacksties the London storyteller. Joe claims that working on the album, entitled “A Pinch of Salt”, was the best cure ever for insomnia.
When not playing with the trans-Pennine group “The A69 Band”, he helps organize the Tyneside Irish Festival, plays the music of the Tyneside Irish and the Northumbrians, and teaches Gypsy, Traveller, and refugee kids in Gateshead. A writer and reviewer for “fRoots” magazine, he is getting back to his Irish roots with research into early Irish music, particularly that of the Uillean Pipes.
