Penny Black
Fylde’s own “Comedy Folk Duo”, mainly known for their success at surviving cold Lancashire winters and emerging back into the folk scene from their obligatory winter hibernation are Pete Skinner, John Bond and Bill Hunt. Penny Black gained notoriety as the UK’s only three-piece duo when Dave Jones introduced Pete and John at Fylde as “Two thirds of a duo” – that was many years ago but the tag and confusion still remains!
Traditionalists still stick their fingers in their ears at a Penny Black concert and maybe it was Penny Black’s singing that was the origin of this practice? But undaunted (nary a daunt) Penny Black continue to entertain audiences with their own – their very own – interpretations of songs and monologues, collected, stolen or borrowed at concerts, festivals, clubs and pubs throughout the UK.
If you catch Penny Black at Fylde this year a cure is available in the form of an easily obtainable remedy in the guise of a CD (several variations available) or a visit to their website
