Phil Brown
Phil Brown could get a tune out of an exhaust pipe, if it was in need of replacement. His ground-breaking album (unless the soil is too hard), “Whistling for the Moon” was only surpassed by the tribute DVD, “Mooning at the Whistle”. He later was responsible for “Pendle Moon” which is apparently legal on Hallowe’en (been there, seen that, the T-shirt is actually banned, even on Blackpool Promenade).
Phil was once relatively young (eg relative to the festival committee, or his big sister). He can almost remember playing in lots of former bands, most famously Loose Chippings, once described by an MC in Carnforth as a “bunch of musicians”. Phil now launders money through an alleged internet whistle scam, and presents the BBC Radio Lancashire folk music programme “Who the Folk is That?” on Thursday evenings, repeated the following Sunday. |
