Roy Clinging and Neil Brookes

Following the success of “Off to Sea Once More” where they first appeared together, Roy and Neil have formed an exciting new partnership, bringing together a wealth of experience of traditional song and dance music. Roy leads the singing and plays concertina and guitar, while Neil complements the sons and inspires the tunes on fiddle and octave fiddle.

Roy’s great love of traditional song is immediately evident in their selection of material, with ballads, maritime songs and the results of some of his own research into his Cheshire heritage being well represented. Neil proves the perfect foil for this with a huge repertoire of tunes at his disposal, many gleaned from lesser-known collections from the North West, and by adding texture and variation with his unique and interesting style of song accompaniment. They perform their music with an enthusiasm and spirit that can only derive from those who have belief in their material.
