The New Scorpion Band
The New Scorpion Band performs traditional music from Britain and Ireland. Their extensive repertoire includes "theme" programmes of poetry, prose and music (a concert will typically include 25 instruments and 5 voices). The band-members are all distinguished performers in their own fields.
Tim Laycock (vocals, duet concertinas, melodeon, harmonica, percussion), folksinger, songwriter and actor, performed with Magic Lantern, The Albion Band and The Melstock Band. His extensive repertoire of folksong forms the basis of the band’s material.
Brian Gulland (vocals, harmonium, bassoon, whistles, flute, oboe, cor anglais, tuba, percussion) worked with Musica Reservata and London Pro Musica before forming Gryphon with Richard Harvey
Robin Jeffrey (vocals, banjo, guitars, percussion, laouto, mandolin, lute) from the world of early music, also performs and records Jewish music with The Burning Bush.
Sharon Lindo (vocals, violins, viola, rebec, guitar, trombone, whistle, curtal) performs and tours internationally with many groups. She is also a composer, musical director and arranger.
Robert White (vocals, Uilleann, Northumbrian, Lowland and Welsh bagpipes, whistles & flutes, brass, percussion) has worked in the theatre, in TV and in film, in his musical capacity and as an actor.
