Captain Cooper’s Motley Crew

Captain Cooper’s Motley Crew continue their second decade together as they began their first, entertaining their audiences with a mixture of song, music and humour, presented with a wholehearted enthusiasm that guarantees to give satisfaction. Dave Cooper, lead singer, front man and bodhran player has been involved in the folk scene for many years, notably forming the comedy folk band “Woodbine Lizzie”. Ably assisted by Pat Kearney, vocals (“a voice that can take the head off a pint of Guinness at fifty feet”), banjo, bodhran and concertina and Rodger Boyce on fiddle, they have recently been joined by Paul Wrigley on guitar. Paul’s harmonies and singer/songwriter abilities have brought a new dimension to the band.

Their music ranges from the Lowlands of Scotland (their rendition of Burns’ “A Man’s a Man for a’ That” is a classic) to the far coast of Americay, passing joyfully through Ireland in all its moods. Come and see them and enjoy an evening of total entertainment.
